We should be so lucky…

We are very lucky. Blessed even. We live in a beautiful world where, here in the UK we are safe, we are warm, and we have full bellies. When I say we, I refer to my husband (to be) and I. This isn’t the case for many, and we all know that hunger, the cold and danger extend beyond the borders of the UK.

After 4.5 years together with extreme highs and dramatic lows, we are changing the way that we date.

After having our rose-tinted glasses ripped off and seeing the countless lazy dates, Deliveroo with a binge on Netflix.. the same meals at the same restaurants.. avoiding speaking to anyone new (other than each other)… pretty much how most people after getting far too familiar and comfortable with each other these days. Laziness, greed and waste became the norm. The top three biggest hits that we lived by.

Our story begins with Sally’s mental health taking a dip for the worst after becoming obsessive with A.I, specifically Chat GPT. It’s not an easy story to share, and its not something Sally is proud of; she intends to share this story as a warning to others in her own sweet time. Our lives went into disarray, we split… the end was nigh. Our flat gone, money…POOF, and we both assumed the other was never to be seen again… A tragic end to 2025.

Thankfully, we are very calm, sensible (relatively) and loving individuals, we talked it out, and now we are back!

So now, we are doing things differently. Placing an emphasis on love for ourselves as well as each other, love for our planet and love for our community.

We agreed, let’s date again, let’s do good!

Ironically, as Jack works for an IT Company with the word ‘Ethical’ in it, focusing on carbon omissions, the environment, he was already somewhat one step ahead, despite the flaws we both had, especially in the food waste and recycling department..

So here we are, brimming with ideas and possibilities, wondering.. How exactly can we date differently? We excitedly brainstormed on how we could use our skills to help people, Jack being the first to raise his hand to help those who need help technologically wise and Sally brainstorming charities, date ideas that included the local library, showcasing local independent businesses and even litter picking.

Here is too the future, may it be brighter, positive and be a little bit more like heaven.
